ABOUT

Dr Sumesh Padayachee

During his specialist training, Dr Sumi rotated through five (5) of the largest public urological departments in South Africa, attaining invaluable knowledge, experience and exposure to urological conditions and a patient-centred approach to health care. His calm and attentive demeanour has always endeared him to patients, receiving numerous hospital honours and commendations during his training.

He attained his Master’s in Medicine (M.Med) in Urology degree with distinction and was admitted as a Fellow of the College of Urologists (FC Urol) in 2022. Dr Sumi still maintains a keen interest in research and academia having made several presentations at numerous congresses and specialist training workshops nationally. He continues to form an integral part of the Urology Specialist Team and continues to be actively involved in mentorship of trainee urologists. To recharge and de-stress, Dr Sumi meditates daily and spends time road running for his physical well-being. He also enjoys listening to and playing music across a wide range of genres.

While Dr Sumi enjoys all aspects of Urology, his major interests include oncology (Cancers), endourology, male sexual health and where possible uses a minimally invasive approach to surgical procedures.

Following the experience of his late mother being diagnosed with Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma, Dr Sumi, having been on the opposite side of the consultation table, strives to provide his patients with a comfortable and dignified environment and an individualized approach to their urological challenges.
